Southington Local Schools offers services to all students identified as Gifted. Students are cluster-grouped with teachers who attend professional development in the eight competencies as determined by the Ohio Department of Education. You can read about the competencies by clicking

Students can be identified in:
*Superior Cognitive Ability
*Specific Academic Ability
*Reading/Writing, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies
*Creative Thinking
*Visual or Performing Arts
*Vocal, Instrumental, Drama, Dance, and Visual Arts
In compliance with state law, Southington completes full-grade screenings for Superior Cognitive and Academics between K-2 and, again, in grade 5. Parents may refer a student at any time for gifted identification by completing the referral form found
here and returning it to the school principal.
