Chess Team

Chalker Wildcat Chess Team started in the fall of 2021. Chess helps students develop their strategic thinking, logical reasoning, situational awareness, analysis, and sportsmanship skills. Chess team is currently open to boys and girls in grades 9-12. A middle school meeting is being planned to begin during this school year. Last year, Chess team members took part in the first interscholastic scrimmage against Newton Falls in the spring of 2022. During the 2022-23 school year, the team is expected to play officially sanctioned matches against Newton Fall, Liberty, and Badger. The boys and girls of the chess team look forward to bringing the county chess trophy back to Chalker High School!

Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination is a middle school club that focuses on encouraging middle schoolers to stretch their minds and think outside of the box while working in a collaborative environment. Teams of 7 are presented with open-ended challenges which require teams to use science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to solve. Additionally, students' ELA skills are then put to the test in some form when it comes time to present the solution in front of area judges. Students use creative and critical thinking in order to solve these problems, many times experiencing failure before they experience success. As a result, students learn that failure and trial and error are the true indicators of finding success.
